2013 Silver Commemorative Centurion Half Dollar. This token is solid .999 Silver, weighing 1/2 a Troy Ounce at 30mm wide.
This commemorative is based upon J-1528 / P-1696 the helmeted Liberty design executed by William Barber. This design was apparently inspired by a drawing prepared by Christian Gobrecht in the late 1830s per Pollock. It shows Liberty wearing a helmet adorned with an eagle. This is believed to be the inspiration behind the design by William Barber used on 1877 half dollars J1526-J1531/P1694-P1699
The reverse of this token features the Grove Minting Coat of Arms and assayer designation.
The production of the Centurion Half Dollar Commemorative was limited to a striking of 500 pieces.
